I see art as a decoration of space,
and music as a decoration of time.
Together, they create a kind of flow.
Everything begins as a dot, until we connect it into a line.

I’m Mona Sato. Born in Tokyo and shaped by years spent between Taipei, Vancouver and Milan, I became sensitive to the different rhythms of a place — its colors, its people,

the way bodies move through space, and the subtle shifts in how we relate to one another.

My practice is deeply rooted in impermanence.

I’m drawn to things that refuse to stay still: a thought passing, smoke dissolving, a color changing against another. Rather than fixing a form within a single contour, I build my drawings through layers of soft, flowing lines, allowing an image to feel as though it is still becoming.

Across traditional media, digital drawing, photography and animation, I use art as a way of paying attention to what is already changing — to stay with a moment fully, before it becomes something else.
